Our time here was a celebration of life's finest pleasures—long lunches overlooking the sea, leisurely afternoons exploring hidden corners of the coastline, unforgettable sunsets, and evenings spent dining beneath the stars.
For our stay, we chose Hotel Le Agavi, an elegant retreat perched above the water offering some of the most spectacular views in Positano. Tucked away from the bustle of the village below, it provided the perfect balance of tranquility, luxury, and authentic Italian hospitality.
An Afternoon Along the Amalfi Coast
After arriving at Hotel Le Agavi and settling into our room overlooking the Mediterranean, we eased into Positano life with a leisurely lunch at Remmese, the hotel's waterfront restaurant.
With fresh seafood, coastal views, and the gentle rhythm of the sea below, it was the perfect introduction to the Amalfi Coast's relaxed elegance.
That afternoon brought one of the most memorable experiences of our entire journey—a private vintage Fiat 500 tour through Positano and neighboring Praiano.
There is perhaps no more charming way to experience the Amalfi Coast than from behind the wheel of an iconic Italian Fiat. As we navigated winding cliffside roads, every turn revealed a postcard-worthy panorama of colorful villages, dramatic coastlines, and the sparkling Mediterranean stretching endlessly beyond.
It felt less like sightseeing and more like stepping into an Italian film.
As golden hour approached, we returned to the hotel to prepare for an evening many consider the pinnacle of Positano dining.
An Evening at La Sponda
Tucked inside the legendary Le Sirenuse, La Sponda is one of those rare places that exceeds even the highest expectations.
As evening falls, hundreds of candles illuminate the dining room, creating an atmosphere that feels both intimate and unforgettable. Framed by sweeping views of Positano's twinkling lights and the sea beyond, dinner here is as much about the setting as it is the cuisine.
It was, without question, one of the most romantic evenings of our time in Italy.
Discovering the Coast from the Water
To truly appreciate the Amalfi Coast, one must experience it from the sea.
The following morning, we boarded a private boat and set off along one of the world's most celebrated coastlines. From hidden coves and secluded beaches to dramatic rock formations and picturesque villages perched impossibly above the water, the coastline reveals an entirely different personality when viewed from the Mediterranean.
One of the great luxuries of the Amalfi Coast is arriving at lunch by boat, and few places are more deserving of such an entrance than Carlino at Il San Pietro di Positano.
Accessible directly from the sea, Carlino embodies the effortless sophistication for which Il San Pietro is renowned. Lunch unfolded slowly, accompanied by coastal views, impeccable service, and the unmistakable feeling that time had somehow slowed down.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent exactly as it should be in Positano—relaxing on our terrace, soaking in the views, and embracing the slower pace that makes this corner of Italy so enchanting.
As sunset painted the coastline in shades of gold and blush, we enjoyed cocktails overlooking the sea before dinner at La Serra, Hotel Le Agavi's celebrated restaurant.
Few settings rival a summer evening overlooking Positano.
Beyond the Village
While Positano itself could easily occupy days of exploration, its location also provides access to some of Italy's most extraordinary cultural treasures.
A private excursion to Pompeii offered a fascinating glimpse into the ancient world. Walking through streets that have stood for nearly two thousand years provided a remarkable contrast to the glamour and beauty of the Amalfi Coast.
Back in Positano, we spent the afternoon wandering through the village itself—discovering artisan boutiques, hidden stairways, family-owned shops, and breathtaking viewpoints tucked around every corner.
Part of Positano's charm lies in its ability to surprise you. The most memorable moments often come not from an itinerary, but from simply allowing yourself to wander.
Our final evening was spent at Ristorante Don Giovanni, where exceptional cuisine, warm hospitality, and panoramic views provided a fitting conclusion to our stay.
