A Dreamy Escape to Capri: Celebrating My 40th Birthday in Italy
There are certain destinations that live up to every expectation, and then there are places that exceed them entirely. Capri was that place for me.
As part of a once-in-a-lifetime Italian journey celebrating my 40th birthday, Capri was my first stop—and from the moment I arrived, I understood why this legendary island has captivated travelers, artists, and romantics for generations.
With dramatic cliffs rising from the sea, charming piazzas, luxury boutiques, unforgettable dining, and some of the most breathtaking views in the world, Capri felt like stepping into a dream.
Where We Stayed: Jumeirah Capri Palace
For my stay, my love chose the beautiful five-star luxury Jumeirah Capri Palace in Anacapri, and it quickly became one of my favorite resorts in Italy.
Our Capritouch Sea View Suite offered stunning views of the Mediterranean and provided a peaceful retreat away from the energy of Capri Town. Mornings began with leisurely breakfasts overlooking the sea, while evenings ended with spectacular sunsets and impeccable hospitality.
The property perfectly blended luxury, elegance, and the relaxed charm that makes Capri so special.
Seeing Capri by Private Boat
One of the highlights of my time on the island was a private boat tour around Capri.
Seeing the island from the water revealed a completely different side of its beauty. Towering cliffs, hidden coves, turquoise water, and the iconic Faraglioni rock formations created postcard-worthy views at every turn.
Of course, no boat day in Capri would be complete without visiting the Blue Grotto. Watching the sunlight transform the cave into a glowing electric blue masterpiece was one of the most magical experiences of the trip.
If there is one excursion I would recommend to every visitor, it would be this.
Lunch at La Fontelina
Following the boat excursion, we enjoyed lunch a seaside lunch at the iconic La Fontelina.
Nestled beside the famous Faraglioni rocks, this legendary beach club and restaurant offers one of the most spectacular lunch settings in all of Italy. With fresh seafood, chilled wine, and panoramic views of the Mediterranean, it was everything you imagine when dreaming of a Capri summer.
It was one of those meals where you never want the afternoon to end.
Sunset Cocktails & Capri Evenings
One of my favorite memories from Capri was slowing down each evening for aperitivo.
Sunset cocktails on the terrace at J.K. Place Capri offered breathtaking views across the water and created the perfect backdrop for celebrating such a special milestone birthday. Another memorable evening included drinks at Hotel La Palma , one of Capri's most elegant gathering spots.
There is something magical about Capri at sunset that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else.
Dinner Beneath the Lemon Trees at Da Paolino
Capri is known for many things, but few experiences are more iconic than dinner at Da Paolino.
Dining beneath a canopy of illuminated lemon trees felt straight out of a fairytale. The atmosphere was romantic, uniquely Capri, and unlike any restaurant experience I've had before.
For anyone visiting the island, this is an absolute must.
Shopping in Capri
One of my favorite ways to experience a destination is through its local artisans and boutiques, and Capri did not disappoint.
I found a beautiful leather handbag at Sisa Capri and had custom leather sandals handmade at La Capri Chic, one of the island's beloved artisan workshops.
These pieces became more than souvenirs—they became lasting reminders of a milestone birthday celebrated in one of the world's most beautiful destinations.
The Best View in Capri: Monte Solaro Chairlift
One experience that completely exceeded my expectations was taking the chairlift from Anacapri to Monte Solaro.
Floating above vineyards, gardens, and rooftops before reaching the island's highest point felt almost surreal.
The panoramic views overlooking Capri, the Bay of Naples, and the endless Mediterranean Sea were among the most spectacular of the entire trip.
If you're visiting Capri for the first time, don't skip this experience.
Gardens of Augustus & Via Krupp
Another unforgettable afternoon was spent wandering through the Gardens of Augustus.
The sweeping views of Capri's coastline, Marina Piccola, and the winding curves of Via Krupp below are simply breathtaking. Every turn offered another postcard-worthy perspective and served as a reminder of why Capri remains one of the world's most beloved destinations.
Walking Through History at Villa Jovis
Beyond its glamour and luxury, Capri has a fascinating history.
One of my favorite experiences was visiting Villa Jovis, the ancient Roman palace built by Emperor Tiberius. Perched dramatically above the sea, the site offers incredible views and a glimpse into Capri's rich past.
The walk itself was beautiful, and the history added another layer of appreciation for the island.
